Revati

Revati (revatī) is the twenty-seventh and last nakshatra; its name means "the wealthy one", "the abundant one". It is lunar mansion No. 27, ruled by Mercury. Revati is about the completion of a road, attentive sending-off, and a gentle abundance that is shared with others.

Place in the system

Revati occupies 346°40′–360°00′, at the end of Pisces, closing the whole circle, and divides into four padas of 3°20′ each: its last pada runs up to 360°, where the count begins again. In the Vimshottari system it is ruled by Mercury, and together with Ashlesha and Jyeshtha it forms the trio of "Mercury" nakshatras.

Its end coincides with a gandanta junction at the very border of the circle, before a new Ashwini begins, so the last degrees of this nakshatra are considered especially sensitive — this is the threshold of completion and of a new start.

Practical meaning

By tradition its symbol is a fish and a drum: the fish points to a road across the waters. The Brihat Samhita (XV.25) assigns to this mansion merchants, sailors, and helmsmen; also aquatic products, fruits, salt, gems, conches, pearls, lotuses, perfumes, and flowers. This is a recurring theme of the mansion, not a portrait of any one person: classical lists describe tendencies, not fate.

This is a nakshatra of completion and care: it carries what was begun through to the end and helps the passage to what comes next. Its strength lies in gentleness, generosity, and the ability to see something safely to its destination, but the same kindness sometimes turns into excessive protectiveness. The best in it comes out when care stays free and seeks no reward in another's gratitude.

In daily practice

When the Moon moves through Revati, the day is good for finishing matters, sending off, travel, care for others, and everything that draws a line under something. It is a favorable and gentle time to complete what was begun and to let go carefully of what has had its day. Matters that need a sharp start and drive suit such a day less.
