Apara Ekadashi

Apara (Aparā) is the ekadashi of krishna paksha in the third lunar month, Jyeshtha (May-June). The name comes from the Sanskrit "aparā" — "boundless," "immeasurable." Tradition connects the fast on this day with boundless merit and with cleansing heavy misdeeds.

Place in the system

Ekadashi is the eleventh tithi of the lunar month. Apara falls eleventh in the dark half of Jyeshtha, immediately before Nirjala — the ekadashi of shukla paksha in the same month.
