Ayushman is yoga of longevity.

Ayushman (Ayushman) is the third of the 27 yogas of the panchanga. By count it's yoga #3, right after Priti. The name comes from the Sanskrit "ayushman" — "long-lived," "possessed of a long life." Tradition counts Ayushman among the favorable yogas: days under it suit routine, strengthening the body, and long-term undertakings tied to health.

Place in the system

Yoga is the fourth limb of the panchanga, counted by the sum of the longitudes of the Sun and the Moon. Ayushman is third in the 27-part cycle, from 26°40′ to 40° of combined longitude.

In the muhurta classification, Ayushman is counted in the "shubha" group (favorable). The connection to health and long life is the yoga's main note.

Practical meaning

In the tradition of choosing a muhurta, Ayushman is held suitable for starting a health routine, fasting and diet, and physical exercise. Tradition adds charity toward the sick and suffering. Medical decisions — starting treatment, taking medication, getting examined — are made on medical grounds, not by the panchanga; the yoga here is about the day's disposition, not medical prescriptions.

The Ayushman background works through strengthening: tradition ties this yoga to the body, to routine, and to the long run. A routine begun on this day — diet, schedule, regular practice — tradition holds more likely to stick.

In daily practice

Ayushman is a day for health. It's good on this day to start a diet, take up a regular physical practice, or bring order to your daily schedule. The Ayushman yoga supports any undertaking aimed at strengthening the body.

Ayushman also suits charity toward hospitals, shelters, and homes for the elderly — tradition ties care for the sick and weak to this yoga's theme.

Ayushman also suits caring for elders — parents, grandparents. Tradition reads long life here as a family bond that calls for active involvement.

How favorable this day is for you personally is refined by Tara Bala — a count from your birth nakshatra. Ayushman sets a background of health and the long run, and the personal layer shows whether that background fits your state today.
