Atmakaraka Rahu is a soul task built on an insatiable pull toward the new, a break from the usual order, and work with the illusion of desire. Rahu becomes Atmakaraka only in the rare case of Karaka Lopa — when two of the seven planets match in degree within a sign down to a fraction of an arcsecond and the eight-planet scheme kicks in; for the vast majority of people the Atmakaraka is one of the seven physical grahas.
