Dhriti is yoga of steadfastness.

Dhriti (Dhriti) is the eighth of the 27 yogas of the panchanga. By count it's yoga #8, right after Sukarma. The name comes from the Sanskrit "dhriti" — "steadfastness," "patience," "self-control." Tradition counts Dhriti among the favorable yogas: days under it suit long labor, patient waiting, and matters that call for endurance.

Place in the system

Yoga is the fourth limb of the panchanga, counted by the sum of the longitudes of the Sun and the Moon. Dhriti is eighth in the 27-part cycle, from 93°20′ to 106°40′ of combined longitude.

In the muhurta classification, Dhriti is counted in the "shubha" group (favorable). The connection to steadfastness and patience is the yoga's main note.

Practical meaning

In the tradition of choosing a muhurta, Dhriti is held favorable for long-term ventures and patient labor. Tradition adds starting studies meant for the long run and holding steady through a difficult situation.

The Dhriti background works through endurance. Tradition ties this yoga to matters that hold by repetition, not by a rush: study, regular practice, patiently waiting for a result.

In daily practice

Dhriti is a day for long labor. It's good on this day to start a course meant to run for months or years; start a project that needs sustained attention; settle into a routine that calls for daily repetition. The Dhriti yoga supports any undertaking where steadiness matters.

Dhriti also suits regular practice that calls for daily effort — from physical exercise to keeping a journal or learning a language.

Dhriti also suits patient waiting — where direct action is impossible or premature. Steadfastness here isn't passivity but composure: holding a course until circumstances allow you to act.

How favorable this day is for you personally is refined by Tara Bala — a count from your birth nakshatra. Dhriti sets a general background of steadfastness and endurance, and the personal layer shows whether that background fits your state today.
