Shubha is yoga of auspiciousness.
Shubha (Shubha) is the twenty-third of the 27 yogas of the panchanga. By count it's yoga #23, right after Sadhya. The name comes from the Sanskrit "shubha" — "benign," "auspicious," "beautiful." Tradition counts Shubha among the favorable yogas: days under it suit outward, visible events — things that need to go well in front of others.
Place in the system
Yoga is the fourth limb of the panchanga, counted by the sum of the longitudes of the Sun and the Moon. Shubha is twenty-third in the 27-part cycle, from 293°20′ to 306°40′ of combined longitude.
Twenty-third by count, Shubha falls in the fourth quarter of the 27-part cycle. In the muhurta classification, Shubha is counted among the favorable yogas. Its name matches the name of the entire favorable group ("shubha"), but yoga #23 is only one member of it, not the group itself: the other seventeen favorable yogas carry different names. The connection to auspiciousness for outward matters is the yoga's main note.
Practical meaning
In the tradition of choosing a muhurta, Shubha is held favorable for weddings, openings, celebrations, and offerings — occasions with an audience. Tradition adds any matter where it matters that the day go well in front of others.
The Shubha background works through the good fortune of an occasion. Tradition ties such a day to what's started and carried out before witnesses — a celebration, a ceremony, a public step.
In daily practice
Shubha is a day for visible occasions. It's good on this day to hold a ceremony, celebrate, or announce something important. The Shubha yoga supports any undertaking that needs to go smoothly in front of people.
Shubha also suits major life events: weddings, engagements, opening a new venture.
Shubha also suits charity done publicly — a gift, rather than quiet help given unseen.
How favorable this day is for you personally is refined by Tara Bala — a count from your birth nakshatra. Shubha sets a general background of auspiciousness for outward events, and the personal layer shows whether that background fits your state today.
