Dhruva is yoga of constancy and fixity.
Dhruva (Dhruva) is the twelfth of the 27 yogas of the panchanga. By count it's yoga #12, right after Vriddhi. The name comes from the Sanskrit "dhruva" — "unmoving," "steady," "the pole star." Tradition counts Dhruva among the favorable yogas: days under it suit steady undertakings, staying the course, and anything that needs to hold firm.
Place in the system
Yoga is the fourth limb of the panchanga, counted by the sum of the longitudes of the Sun and the Moon. Dhruva is twelfth in the 27-part cycle, from 146°40′ to 160° of combined longitude.
In the muhurta classification, Dhruva is counted in the "shubha" group (favorable). The connection to being unmoving and steady is the yoga's main note. "Dhruva" is also the name of the pole star, the sky's fixed point — hence the yoga's note.
Practical meaning
In the tradition of choosing a muhurta, Dhruva is held favorable for lasting undertakings, planting trees, and austerity. Tradition adds starting long-term projects, vows of constancy, and disciplined practice.
The Dhruva background works through constancy. This yoga's theme is what's meant to stand for the long run: not a single lucky start, but repetition and routine. If Vishkambha is a support you can lean on right away, Dhruva is what holds precisely by staying unchanged, day after day.
In daily practice
Dhruva is a day for lasting undertakings. It's good on this day to lay a house's foundation, start studies meant to run for years, or take a vow of constancy. The Dhruva yoga supports any undertaking where the long run matters.
Dhruva also suits austerity, regular practice, and daily labor that doesn't call for a rush.
Dhruva also suits vows — especially ones tied to constancy. Tradition holds such a day a fitting time for a long-term vow.
How favorable this day is for you personally is refined by Tara Bala — a count from your birth nakshatra. Dhruva sets a background of steadiness, and the personal layer shows whether that background fits your state today.
